Book trusted pet service providers and explore a
diverse selection of high-quality pet care products.

Problem Statement

In today’s busy world, where everyone’s always rushing and work never seems to stop, finding time for yourself can be really hard. People are always on the move, juggling deadlines, traveling for work, or stuck at work long after they should be home. But in the middle of all this rush, our furry friends often get left out, not getting the love and care they need. By partnering with shelters and rescue organizations, we facilitate adoptions and support rehabilitation efforts. Together, let’s ensure every pet receives the care and attention they deserve.

Finding reliable pet walkers and sitters is challenging, but scheduling the time for necessary veterinary visits is even more of a challenge. Additionally, consumers must visit several websites in order to purchase various products due to the fragmented nature of the internet pet industry.

Potential Solutions

A virtual system that unifies pet care goods and services onto a single platform. An app that facilitates the quick and simple booking of thoroughly screened dog walkers and pet sitters, online veterinarian consultations, and a special e-commerce section for pet care supplies.

Qualitative Research

We conducted phone interviews and in-person Google Meet interviews with twelve prospective consumers to learn about the difficulties they encounter in caring for their pets. Here are some examples of questions to ask:

  • What kind of work do you do?
  • How often do you take a break for a getaway?
  • How long have you had a pet?
  • How often do you walk your dog?
  • When out of town where or with whom do you leave your pet?
  • Are you comfortable with pet sitters coming into your home when you are away?
  • Are there vets available in case of an emergency?
  • Where do you buy your pet supplies from?
  • Are you comfortable buying pet supplies online?

Important conclusions drawn from the interviews

  • Time constraints prevent many dog owners from walking their pets.
  • There aren’t many reliable babysitters, and the majority work one-on-one.
  • It’s problematic when friends or family aren’t available since they have to leave their dogs with them.
  • Building confidence requires reviews and testimonies.
  • Not at ease having a stranger live alone in their home. Most people choose pet boarding.
  • Vets are typically available in cities, however internet platforms will be helpful in isolated places.
  • Online pet accessories are rather pricey.

Quantitative Research

We used Google Forms to conduct an online poll in order to look for any trends or similarities in the possible user base’s preferences. We received 36 responses in all, which helped us formulate the issue accurately.

Key insights drawn from the poll:

  • The research also reaffirmed the necessity of online veterinary consultations, particularly in rural areas. It was also established that having sitters in their houses won’t make individuals feel at ease.
  • Despite the necessity, consumers are not hiring dog walkers because they have distrust concerns. Many pet owners will benefit from a pet supply business.

Brainstorming

We started coming up with ideas for the key features we could include in the application based on the results of the online poll and user interviews.

Define

Personas

Using the information gathered from the survey and interviews, I developed a persona that embodies the ideal application user. Because the persona provided a comprehensive insight of the user’s goals, frustrations, and overall demeanor, it assisted me in coming up with better solutions.

Empathy Map

The goal of this procedure was to provide a clearer definition of the target audience and to show their demands and behaviors. I was able to understand their ideas and feelings better through empathy mapping. The information in the empathy map is derived from user interviews.

User Journey Map

To better understand where we might make improvements to the user experience, we created a visual depiction of the user’s journey throughout all of our application’s touchpoints.

Ideate

User Flow

We designed a flow to demonstrate how the user will traverse the program. This flow outlines each step of the user’s interaction with the program, from initial login to task completion. It visually represents the sequence of actions, providing a clear roadmap for both designers and developers. By mapping out the user journey, potential pain points and opportunities for improvement are identified early in the design process. This allows for targeted optimizations to enhance usability and efficiency. Regular reviews of the flow ensure alignment with user needs and project goals throughout development.

Card Sorting

After the card sorting process, patterns emerged that informed the creation of intuitive navigation pathways within the information architecture. This method not only enhances user experience by simplifying content access but also ensures that the system reflects users’ mental models and expectations.

Design

High Fidelity Wireframes

In the high-fidelity designs, I concentrated on improving user interaction and visual aesthetics after honing the low-fidelity wireframes to comply with iOS requirements. I included complex elements like animations and transitions using Adobe XD’s powerful tools to mimic the final user experience. I paid close attention to consistency and usability the entire time to make sure the final user could navigate the site with ease.
